Tell us more about your background starting from your study in architecture.
I studied architecture as an undergraduate at MIT, then did my Masters at the MIT Media Lab. I was part of the Aesthetics and Computation Group(ACG) led by John Maeda. Our research group started out very screen-based, but I became interested in electronics through exposure to other colleagues at the Media Lab. I have always been interested in clothing and ended up doing my Master's thesis on computation as an expressive element in fashion. I worked briefly at Small Design Firm in Cambridge, lived and taught for a couple of years in Basel Switzerland, then moved back to Los Angeles and had to figure out what to do with myself.
